The project involves the refurbishment and extension of a townhouse in Tramore as a private residence.
The new extension to the rear forms an inward looking light filled courtyard that links the new open plan family space and all existing ground floor accommodation. The existing staircase was relocated to achieve this linkage. The conservation approach adopted was to protect the existing layout and fabric of the house and to retain all original decoration. All of the new joinery elements are free-standing and held clear of the existing joinery at dado and skirting levels.
